Emergency Ride Home

To qualify for reimbursement you must:

• Be a RIDE Solutions member via the RIDE Solutions App.
• The account member must have used and logged an alternative mode trip (carpool, vanpool, transit, bike) to travel to work for the day you are requesting the reimbursement.
• The member must have a work location (must be an official employer location, not a home or public Wi-Fi location) in the RIDE Solutions service area.
  • Our service area includes:
    The counties of Alleghany, Botetourt, Roanoke, Franklin, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Henry, Montgomery, Giles, Floyd, Pulaski, Bedford, Amherst, Appomattox, and Campbell. 
    The cities of: Roanoke, Salem, Lynchburg, Martinsville, Danville, and Covington.
    The towns of: Vinton, Rocky Mount, Bedford, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Clifton Forge.
• Fill out the Emergency Ride Home Reimbursement Request form and provide all requested documentation.

Eligible uses:

• Illness or crisis of immediate family member (child, spouse, parent)
• Carpool or vanpool ride is unavailable due to illness or crisis of carpool/vanpool partner, unexpected changes in the driver’s schedule, or vehicle breakdown
• Bicycle problem, including a flat tire, mechanical failure, vandalism and theft
• Unscheduled overtime or late meeting (I.e. no advance warning they would have to work late). It requires supervisor verification.

Non-Eligible Uses:

• Planned overtime.
• Personal errands
• Medical or dental appointments
• Business-related travel
• Injury on the job
• Regional disasters, such as earthquakes or flood
• Trips from home to work
