On Thursday, October 10th, RIDE Solutions held a tabling event at The Results Companies location in Stuart, Virginia. A tabling event consists of a representative of RIDE Solutions being present at a company facility to meet with employees, inform them that RIDE Solutions offers a great free app that enables people to ride-match with eachother, tell them about how they can earn rewards for carpooling/vanpooling, using transit, biking or walking to work, and finally encouraging them to register to become part of RIDE Solutions.
The Results Companies contracts with major companies to serve as call centers for many of these companies’ customer service needs. The facility in Stuart houses call centers that provide customer service for a popular online dating site, a health care-related company, and the air conditioning sector of another major company. In July, RIDE Solutions held a tabling event at The Results Companies’ Collinsville location, at which nearly 40 employees signed up.
As the RIDE Solutions coordinator for the West Piedmont Planning District, which includes Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania counties, the cities of Danville and Martinsville, and the Town of Rocky Mount, I was present at The Results Companies Stuart location from 1 – 3 on Thursday, where I had the opportunity to meet and interact with the many great people that make up the facility’s approximately 250-strong workforce. This was an ideal time to tell the workforce about the program, since it was during Results Day, which is synonymous with an employee appreciation event, at which food is provided, prizes are won, games are played, and employees are encouraged to mingle. A number of employees expressed interest in the program and signed up to be registered. As an incentive for associates to sign up, we offered two $50 gas cards as a raffle giveaway; congratulations to Jackie and Dana for winning these two cards!
Patrick County is very rural, and most of the county’s employment is centered in and around Stuart, the county seat. The county is too sparsely populated to be served by a transit system, in many cases too much distance exists between homes and workplaces, and walking and bicycling are not always feasible either. Therefore, carpooling is essential for some employees who lack transportation to work, and RIDE Solutions is a great (and free) means for facilitating that, while offering incentives to do so!
If you are an HR representative or in a leadership position with a company in the West Piedmont Planning District, and you have employees who have difficulty getting to work, or your company has challenges recruiting because potential employees lack transportation, send me an email at Jbonanno@wppdc.org, or give me a call at (276) 638-3987, and it would be my pleasure to meet with you and your staff to tell you how RIDE Solutions can help you for FREE! If you’re an employee who has difficulty getting to work or you just wish to carpool to save money on gas and wear-and-tear on your vehicle, download the RIDE Solutions app today at ridesolutions.org!
