As most everyone who is familiar with the RIDE Solutions program is aware, one of the main functions we are involved with is matching employees who desire to carpool together to save money or because they do not have access to reliable transportation with which to get to work. Another function we are involved with is promoting public transit in the areas we serve, both to make commuters and others aware of the multiple modes of transportation available, as well as to promote the transit services themselves.
That said, Danville Transit is an indispensable resource for the City of Danville, as it provides fixed-route service to many areas of the city, as well as Reserve-A-Ride and Handivan service to all areas of the city. To promote and enhance this service, as well as to launch possible, new, expanded service later in the year to Pittsylvania and Halifax counties, Danville Transit is hiring transit drivers. City of Danville Transit Driver – No CDL Required
Job duties include the following; operates transit vehicles to provide transportation service for passengers; Follows fixed routes or a trip schedule for reservation based door to door service; Receives fares and maintains passenger trip data; Follows operating rules and regulations; Ability to operate a 14 passenger bus that does not a require a Commercial Driver’s License or ability to operate a 28 passenger bus that requires a Commercial Driver’s License and P endorsement; Ability to read and write and understand warning labels and symbols; Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school; Must provide a DMV driving record; Starting Pay $10.75 – $12.50/Hour.
