Never been on a bus before but want to learn? We'll ride with you and show you how!

Try Transit Together is an engaging, hands-on training program that offers general route demonstrations and trip planning for both groups and individuals in the Valley Metro service area.

This training is available to businesses, schools, public agencies, nonprofits and community groups.

We can help community members with routes to workplaces, schools, events and other destinations in a public transit environment.

While training and resources are provided at no cost, please note the program can not cover bus fares at this time.

What Try Transit Together Teaches

  • How to plan a transit trip and use online tools
  • Read and understand route maps & schedules
  • Identify, board and get on buses
  • Bus fares and how to pay
  • How to make a transfer
  • Integration of fun activities like “Bus Bingo”
  • Roanoke Valley transportation resources
  • We can tailor training to specific needs
