Bike Month

Bike Month is a celebration of cycling that happens annually in May, supported by local organizations and businesses. It’s a chance to ride and explore commuting by bike, or for fun, fitness, or environmental benefits, and to join in community events.

RIDE Solutions hopes to bring attention to both the opportunities and challenges of bicycling as recreation and transportation throughout the Roanoke and New River Valleys, Alleghany Highlands and West Piedmont Regions.

By creating events that involve all interest, skill, and age level of cyclists, we hope to create an environment where individuals, social groups, and businesses are encouraged to create and host their own events.

Log at least one bike or other sustainable transportation trip in ConnectingVA during Bike Month for chances to win gift card raffles statewide and regionally!

The Bike to Work Challenge Week will kick off with a local event to encourage those who can cycle to work at least one day during the week. Those who log their cycling commute in the ConnectingVA App will be entered in a local prize drawing. We are also recruiting partners and employers who would like to get in on the fun for Bike Month. You can learn more about how to participate as an organization by contacting Christy Straight at cstraight@nrvrc.org.
