Bike Share Growing in Danville

In July, Danville Parks and Recreation unveiled a bike share program for residents.  In only three weeks, more than 400 people have registered utilizing the bike share app and over 700 rides have been taken by users. The majority of the rides have been on the Riverwalk Trail, taken by individuals either looking for some exercise or recreation, or transportation options.

The bike share program has five bike racks available at four different locations.  To participate in the program, users create an account with the Zagster app or online at, enter a credit card, and rent a bike.  For the first hour of use, bike rentals are free.  Individuals are charged $3 per hour for each subsequent hour that they rent a bike.  The bike share program provides another opportunity for residents to engage local businesses as many of the bike racks and bike routes provide easy access to the River District.  The article from the Danville Register and Bee highlighting the success of the bike share program can be accessed here.
