BT’s Commuter Routes: Better Than a Vanpool

If this last snow storm has you thinking about how you can skip digging out the car to get to work, consider this from our friends at Blacksburg Transit…

Do you live in Christiansburg and work in Blacksburg?
Do you want to be dropped off near work…especially in bad weather?
Don’t like to drive in bad weather?

Let Blacksburg Transit’s two commuter routes do the driving for you! Serving different areas of Christiansburg the two commuter routes make pickups throughout residential neighborhoods before traveling on to Blacksburg. Both routes will get passengers to work in Blacksburg by 8 a.m., with return trips to Christiansburg beginning at 5:10 p.m.

With multiple stops on campus in Blacksburg there’s bound to be a convenient stop!

  • 240 Commuter serves the neighborhoods surrounding Main Street and North Franklin with a park & ride stop at Northgate Village on North Franklin before heading to Blacksburg.
  • 241 Commuter serves the neighborhoods surround Peppers Ferry with a park & ride stop at NRV Mall before heading to Blacksburg.

I’ve been on these routes myself. They combine the advantages of a bus route with the advantages of a vanpool – you can ride when you want and the routes run on a regular schedule but you also get a smaller bus which adds to a comfortable commute each way and fellow riders become familiar faces.

Even if the commuter bus doesn’t come right by your house, you can meet it on the way to Blacksburg at several locations and the BT representative can help you identify those likely stops.
