Celebrating Better Bus Stops in Southeast Roanoke

We had a phenomenal showing of community members and organizations at the Pollinate SE! Plawk + Photo-Op to Celebrate Better Bus Stops event!

The pollinator bus stops add color and vibrancy on Jamison Avenue in Southeast Roanoke, while providing needed shelter for bus riders.

The Better Bus Stops for Neighborhoods project in Southeast Roanoke is a collaborative effort of Roanoke Valley Metro, Roanoke Arts Commission and RIDE Solutions.

Molly Kernan, Southeast Artist in Residence, provided design work for the pollinator bus shelters. They were built and installed by Renaissance Contract Lighting & Furnishings, Inc.

Event co-hosts I Heart SE and the Roanoke Plawkers helped drive community engagement to the project.

To celebrate, we enjoyed delicious honeycomb cupcakes by Ella Cakes and refreshments donated by the Bus Riders of Roanoke Advocacy Group (BRRAG).

The “Bee” shelter recently was voted the most favorite bus stop in a contest by Bus Riders of Roanoke Advocacy Group!
