New TRIAD-DANVILLE CONNECTOR links Danville with North Carolina

In January, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) launched a new bus service between Danville and the North Carolina cities of Reidsville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem.

The new service, named the Triad-Danville Connector, is contracted by NCDOT through Sunway Charters and operates twice daily, seven days a week.  The route is very versatile in that the schedule allows for the service to be used for daily commutes or general trips for shopping, medical appointments, to visit friends or family, etc.  In addition, passengers can transfer between the Connector and the Virginia Breeze for trips throughout Virginia and Washington, D.C., as well as to the Mountaineer route in North Carolina.

According to the January 15, 2025 timetable, the schedule is as follows:

The fares are, shall we say…fair!   A one-way trip between Danville and Greensboro is $8, while a trip between Danville and Winston-Salem is $12.  The Triad-Danville Connector stops at the following locations:

  • Danville: Danville Transit Hub, 515 Spring Street, Danville, VA
  • Reidsville: Walmart, 1624 NC-14, Reidsville, NC
  • Greensboro: Douglas Gaylon Depot, 236 East Washington Street, Greensboro, NC
  • Winston-Salem: Clark Campbell Transportation Center, 100 West 5th Street, Winston-Salem, NC

You may purchase tickets online at sunwaycharters.com

If you live in Danville or Pittsylvania County and you commute to Greensboro or Winston-Salem, perhaps you’d like to give your vehicle a break one or two days a week (or perhaps more often) and try the bus.  Not only will you arrive at work refreshed after reading or catching up on sleep, but you’ll have extra time to get work done.  In addition, you’ll extend the life of your vehicle.  A round-trip drive between Danville and Greensboro is about 90 miles, while a roundtrip drive between Danville and Winston-Salem is about 140 miles.  By taking the bus just twice a week, you’ll forgo over 9,000 miles per year traveling to Greensboro or about 14,500 miles traveling to Winston-Salem!

Also, whether you take the Triad-Danville Connector for your commute or a single trip for a doctor’s appointment, to go shopping, etc., don’t forget to log your trips in the ConnectingVA app, through which you’ll accumulate points toward discounts on shopping, dining, activities, or the opportunity to enter a raffle to possibly win a gift card!  If you haven’t downloaded the free app yet, you can do so by clicking here.
