This year, RIDE Solutions will partner with the Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival to promote alternative transportation to and from the event. This year, the event will include several days of live music featuring bands such as Big Daddy Love, Yarn, Holly Bowling, the Vegabonds, and many more. Various brews are typically served at different times as well. Additionally, outdoor activities such as disc golf and paddling the Smith River have been available during past festivals. The event takes place annually on Pop’s Farm, located at 675 Hobson Road, Martinsville, which is actually in the Axton community of Henry County. This year’s event dates will be May 21st – 24th.
According to the website, the Rooster Walk Festival began following the deaths of two local young men, Walker Shank and Edwin “the Rooster” Penn, who passed away as a result of heart issues and a dirt bike accident, respectively. The event was organized by friends in Shank’s and Penn’s honor as a means of raising funds to serve a scholarship program at Martinsville High School for those students aspiring to attend college. To date, over $210,000 has been raised to support the Penn-Shank Memorial Scholarship Fund, as well as local charities.
Most event attendees will drive to the festival, and RIDE Solutions will enable festival-goers to earn points toward rewards for carpooling to the event, in much the same way as points are earned for commutes. Rooster Walk also operates a shuttle between Pop’s Farm and locations in Martinsville and Danville to enable attendees to forego driving altogether; RIDE Solutions will also promote this service as well. In the days and weeks leading up to Rooster Walk, RIDE Solutions will promote the alternative transportation options available festival-goers via social media. Additionally, the event’s organizers will promote our services on the website. Please learn more about the Rooster Walk event at https://roosterwalk.com/.
This will not be the first time RIDE Solutions has partnered with a music festival. For the past couple of years, we have partnered with Floyd Fest, which takes place annually in Patrick County. Beginning last year, that partnership enabled attendees to earn points with the RIDE Solutions app for carpooling.
