The 2017 Writer by Bus, Shari Dragovich, has completed her work. The compilation of essays, entitled The Thirty Minute Neighborhood, are now available for purchase or download.
Dragovich’s works represent the program’s first foray into essays after our previous two writers, Melanie Almeder and Meighan Sharp, developed collections of poems. Dragovich’s work focuses heavily on the development of community among bus riders.
The collection contains a bittersweet essay, “Mr. Ramey’s Henry Street,” detailing an interview Ms. Dragovich has with David Ramey Sr., whose art appears both on the cover of the chapbook and on one of the Valley Metro buses participating in this year’s Art by Bus program. Mr. Ramey passed away this summer before the completion of the collection.
Ms. Dragovich’s collection had be read online or via a downloadable PDF. In addition, a small number of limited edition hardcopies are available for purchase for $5, with proceeds from the sales of the book going to benefit the estate of Mr. Ramey.
