Altavista Community Transit Service (ACTS) – (434) 369-5001 is a deviated fixed route service operated through the Town of Altavista.  The $.50 per trip service operates Monday – Saturday within the Town limits only and can provide service up to ¾ a mile off the standard route.

 

Blacksburg Transit:  (540) 961-1185 – BT serves the town of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech.  BT’s Two-Town Trolley offers service between Christiansburg and Blacksburg, the Explorer and Go Anywhere Christiansburg routes offer service in Christiansburg’s central business district as well as on demand service to anywhere within the town.

Want to know when to catch the bus?  BT4U’s text messaging service allows riders to receive the next three departure times from their bus stop on their cell phone.

Ferrum Express: The Ferrum Express service is free and runs weekends while Ferrum College is in session, serving Ferrum, Rocky Mount, and Downtown Roanoke.

Greater Lynchburg Transit Company (GLTC):  (434) 455-5090 – Provides daily service Monday – Saturday within the City of Lynchburg and portions of Madison Heights.  GLTC also offers an ADA Paratransit Service. Also offers connecting service to Roanoke via the Smart Way Connector.

Greyhound: Greyhound provides national bus service to most major U.S. cities, and international service to Canada and Mexico. Tickets can be purchases online or through the ticket agent at the Campbell Court Greyhound terminal.

Hollins Express: The Hollins Express offers limited, free shuttle service from Hollins University to Center in the Square, with one stop at Valley View Mall, and is available to the general public.

Mountain Express: The Mountain Express serves Covington and Clifton Forge, including Dabney S. Lancaster Community College.

Pulaski Area Transit: (540) 980-5040 – Pulaski Area Transit provides service to the Town of Pulaski and Pulaski County, including service to New River Community College and Fairlawn.

Radford Transit: (540) 831-5911 – Radford Transit provides service throughout Radford and into nearby communities, including Fairlawn, Christiansburg and Blacksburg.

Smart Way Bus: (800) 388 -7005 – Runs between Roanoke and Blacksburg and includes stops at Roanoke Higher Education Center, the Roanoke Valley Municipal Airport, and Park & Ride Locations. Operated by Greater Roanoke Transit Company.

You can purchase passes for the Smart Way and Smart Way Connector with a credit card at the Blacksburg Municipal Building.

Smart Way Amtrak Connector: (800) 388-7005 – Special connector shuttle providing connection service from the New River Valley, Roanoke Valley, and Bedford to Lynchburg’s Kemper Station to access the AMRTAK Northeast Regional Service, providing daily rail access to Northern Virginia and points north as far as Boston. Operated by Greater Roanoke Transit Company.

You can purchase passes for the Smart Way and Smart Way Connector with a credit card at the Blacksburg Municipal Building.  You can also purchase your pass on the Smart Way Connector when you buy your Amtrak ticket as a bundle.  Visit Amtrak.com to purchase tickets.

Star Line Trolley: (540) 982-2222 – The Star Line Trolley offers free service between the Downtown Roanoke market area and Carilion Roanoke Memorial hospital.  Operated by Greater Roanoke Transit Company.

Valley Metro: (540) 982-2222 – Serves Roanoke City and parts of Salem and Vinton with connecting service to the Smart Way Bus and Smart Way Connector service.  Operated by Greater Roanoke Transit Company.
