Audretsch, interviewed recently in The American Conservative Magazine, thinks cities are better able to take care of themselves and generate prosperity if they don’t wait for the federal government to try to fix things, all for the simple reason that people really do care about the places they live.

Lynchburg’s Clean Commute Challenge and Bike Month

Mayor Michael Gillette rang in May’s Bike and Clean Commute Challenge Month with a Proclamation reading on the Lynchburg City Town Hall steps April 28th.     Mayor Gillette noted the importance of all modes of transportation and recognized the value in the bike lanes, crosswalks, and public transit to the City of Lynchburg.

RIDE Solutions Launches Annual Clean Commute Challenge

Roanoke, VA. (April 28, 2015) – In 2014, RIDE Solutions broke records with its annual Clean Commute Challenge, removing over 70,000 miles from the region’s roads as people across central and southwest Virginia were encouraged to carpool, bike, walk, take transit, or telework instead of driving alone.
